A Brief History of our Personal Matchmaking Roots

The County Register is believed to be the oldest British personal matchmaking brand, having been founded 41 years ago in 1983, and as the award was for performance last year in 2023, it was particularly fitting to win the award in our 40th anniversary year, having been founded by Heather Heber Percy and Geraldine Turner, half a lifetime ago.

The County Register is still as popular with clients today as it’s ever been and is incredibly well respected within the personal matchmaking industry. We enjoyed another wonderfully successful year in 2023, with record numbers of new joiners – people who are looking for true love. Our elite matchmaking service is all made possible through the diligent work of Karen Hyde and Lucy Hart, who help support the whole team.

We asked the team at The County Register what it means to them to win this award, not just for 2023, but now for 4 consecutive years. We also caught up with Karen Hyde, Executive Matchmaker, to ask her what the success of The County Register means to her. It also comes as no surprise, as I too am very proud of our matchmaking team and the award is a great accolade and testament to the working relationship between myself, Tracey and Lucy. I know that this award cannot be won alone and is a combination of hard work, dedication and the empathy and desire to do our very best for each and every one of our clients, from all 3 of us.”
