Visibility carries a real cost. A partner in a firm, a consultant surgeon, a fund manager, a headmaster, a chief executive of a family business: all of them are recognisable to people whose regard matters professionally. Being seen to be looking is a different matter at that level than it is at thirty, and no amount of privacy settings changes it.

Time is the binding constraint. Our members work long hours, travel often and guard their evenings. The arithmetic of meeting people yourself, the screening, the messages, the meetings that should never have been arranged, does not survive contact with a serious working diary.

One long conversation first. Your matchmaker conducts an in-depth profiling interview, in person, at your home or at one of our offices, whichever intrudes least. We ask about your work because it shapes your life, and then we ask about everything else. Nothing begins until that conversation has happened and you have approved how you are described.

Selection by a person who has met you. Your matchmaker chooses each introduction themselves, from our membership and, where nobody suitable is available, from beyond it. Individuals outside our membership are approached directly and discreetly on your behalf, which means your search is not limited to the people who happen to have joined the same service.

Everyone interviewed, everyone verified. Every person we recommend has been interviewed in person and has had their identity verified before their details reach you. So has every person who receives yours.

One at a time, at your pace. Introductions are put forward individually rather than as a list to work through, and nothing is exchanged without your agreement. A demanding quarter can be absorbed; our memberships include a facility to place your search on hold.

Professional Dating Sites and Why Our Members Left Them

Services aimed at professionals filter by job title or university, which sounds like discernment and is not. Filtering tells you what somebody has; it tells you nothing about who they are, what they are looking for or whether they are serious. You are still publishing yourself, still visible to everyone else admitted, and still doing all of the work of choosing among people you know nothing about.

The difference is not the size of the pool. It is who does the judging, and whether anyone has actually met the person whose details you are reading. Members whose circumstances call for a longer and more comprehensive search take Bespoke, our most comprehensive membership, which includes the involvement of our founder, Heather Heber Percy, where appropriate. Portfolio is a considered search on the same principles over a shorter period, and Cameo is our entry level.

The number of introductions and the length of your membership are agreed with you in advance and set out in your Membership Agreement. Membership is by consultation, and we will explain exactly what yours would involve when we speak.

Members make a considered commitment to the full service period, with the standard statutory fourteen-day right to cancel at the start. We make no guarantee of an outcome; we promise care, judgement and the right introductions.

Confidentiality, in Practical Terms

For members with a public-facing professional life, it is worth being specific about what discretion actually means here.

Nothing about your membership is published, listed or searchable. There is no platform on which it could appear.
Your details are held by our matchmaking team and shared with another member only once you have agreed to that introduction.
Every member, including you, is bound to confidentiality about their own membership and about anyone they are introduced to, as a term of the Membership Agreement.

Consultations take place at your home or at our offices, by appointment, at times that suit your diary.

The County Register has been arranging introductions for more than forty years and has been recognised with the title of Dating Agency of the Year. Our founder, Heather Heber Percy, remains personally involved in the agency. Our matchmaking headquarters is in Warwickshire and we receive members at our London office at 35 Berkeley Square, Mayfair, which suits members in the City and the West End.

What is an executive dating agency?

An executive dating agency arranges introductions for senior professionals privately, without a public profile or a platform. A matchmaker interviews you, understands your circumstances and the demands of your working life, and then selects and vets each introduction personally. The distinction from a professionals' dating site is that a person does the choosing, and that person has met everyone they put forward.

I travel constantly. Will this work around my diary?

Yes, and it is designed to. Introductions are put forward one at a time rather than in batches, your profiling interview takes place at your home or our offices at a time that suits you, and every membership includes the facility to place your search on hold when work requires it.

Will my employer, colleagues or clients be able to find out?

Not through us. There is no profile and nothing searchable, your details are shared only with your agreement, and every member is contractually bound to confidentiality about anyone they are introduced to. Nothing about your membership exists anywhere it could be encountered.

How is this different from a dating site for professionals?

A site filters applicants and then leaves the work to you: you publish a description of yourself, you are visible to everyone else admitted, and you screen strangers on your own judgement. An agency reverses that. You are interviewed, you never appear in a list, and each introduction is chosen for you by a matchmaker who has met both people concerned.

How are fees arranged for an executive membership?

As a single membership fee covering a dedicated matchmaker and an agreed number of hand-selected introductions over a set term, rather than a charge for each introduction. Membership is by consultation: the level that suits you, what it involves and its fee are discussed in your first private conversation, and the particulars are then set out in your Membership Agreement.

How many introductions will I actually receive?

A defined number, agreed with you before your membership begins and set out in your Membership Agreement rather than left open. It varies by level, and we will tell you exactly what yours would be when we speak. We would rather commit to a number and meet it than imply an unlimited service.
