What Is Elitist Dating?

Elitist dating describes any approach to finding a partner that is deliberately selective: rather than meeting as many people as possible, you meet only those who share your standards, your values and your stage in life. In practice it takes two forms. The first is the selective dating app, which filters applicants by job title or education but still asks you to publish a profile and browse. The second, and older, form is the private matchmaking agency, where an experienced matchmaker comes to know you personally and introduces you only to people they have met, verified and judged to be genuinely suited to you.

Judgement, Not Filters

Why Discerning Singles Choose a Matchmaker Over an Exclusive App

A waiting list, however long, is not the same as judgement. A selective app may decide who is admitted, but once inside, you are still visible to everyone else who has been admitted, including colleagues, clients and acquaintances, and you are still left to sort through them yourself. Selective by Design

For a service to be truly selective, the selection has to work in both directions. Before anyone becomes a member of The County Register, they undergo an in-depth profiling interview with one of our matchmakers and a formal identity check. We ask that members are single and seeking a serious and lasting relationship, and we reserve the right to decline any application where we do not believe we can help, or where the fit would not be right for our wider membership.

This is what protects the quality of every introduction we make. When you meet someone through The County Register, you can be confident that they have been through exactly the same process as you.

Who Our Members Are

Our members are accomplished, discerning people aged between 30 and 80, most commonly between 45 and 70. They include senior figures in law, finance and medicine, business owners and entrepreneurs, landowners, academics, senior members of the armed forces and diplomatic service, and retired executives. Some have never married; many are divorced or widowed and approaching a new chapter with care.

An in-depth consultation with your matchmaker, in person at your home or at one of our offices, in which we come to understand your life, your values and the kind of partner you hope to meet.

Hand-Selection and Headhunting

Your matchmaker selects suitable people from our membership and, where appropriate, searches beyond it to find individuals who would not otherwise be available to you.

Recommendations, One at a Time

Each recommendation is put forward to you individually. Where you and the other person both agree, it becomes a confirmed introduction.

Ongoing Dialogue

After each introduction your matchmaker gathers feedback, so that every subsequent recommendation is more considered than the last.

Confidentiality

Discretion as a Foundation, Not a Feature

For many of our members, confidentiality is the single most important part of the service. Nothing about your membership is published anywhere. Your details are handled by our matchmaking team alone, and every member, including you, is bound to confidentiality about their membership and anyone they are introduced to. Every member also receives our Dating Safety Handbook.

It is the simplest possible form of privacy: a search that was never public in the first place.

Heritage, Since 1983

The County Register was founded in 1983 by Heather Heber Percy, who remains personally involved in the agency to this day. More than forty years of continuous matchmaking have given us a depth of experience and a breadth of membership that newer services cannot replicate, and our work has been recognised with the title of Dating Agency of the Year. Our matchmaking headquarters is in Warwickshire, and we receive clients at our London office in Berkeley Square, Mayfair.

Membership

We offer four membership levels, Bespoke, Executive, Portfolio and Cameo, each with a dedicated matchmaker and a considered number of hand-selected introductions over the membership term. Membership begins at £3,950, and every level above Cameo includes headhunting, a face-to-face profiling interview and professional photography.

For those whose circumstances call for something composed individually, including a search that extends beyond the United Kingdom, we offer Carte Blanche, our bespoke membership, overseen personally by our founder.

The terms are used interchangeably. Both describe a selective approach to finding a partner, in which introductions are limited to people of comparable standing, education and values. "Elite dating" is the more common phrase within the industry; at The County Register we simply prefer the word discerning.

How much does elite matchmaking cost?

Membership at The County Register begins at £3,950 for our Cameo level and rises to £15,950 for Bespoke, our most comprehensive membership, with Carte Blanche composed individually on consultation. The fee reflects a fully personal service: a dedicated matchmaker, in-depth profiling, headhunting and hand-selected introductions over the membership term.

Do you guarantee a relationship?

No reputable matchmaker can, and we do not. What we promise is care, judgement and introductions that have been genuinely thought through. Our role is to ensure that everyone you meet is someone worth meeting.

Where do you introduce members?

We introduce members throughout the United Kingdom, from London and the Home Counties to Surrey, Hampshire and beyond. Our Carte Blanche membership extends the search internationally.
